Until recently, Lopatin used a lot of analog gear, such as Korg Electribe ES-1 sampler and most notably Roland Juno-60 synthesizer. Oneohtrix created multimedia performance together with Nate Boyce for MoMA in 2011, re-imagining museum’s modernist sculptures collection, and also he composed music for a troupe of 16 flying quadcopters to dance to and manipulate sound and light at the Saacthi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase in 2012.
In 2013 Oneohtrix Point Never signed contract with Warp Records. In 2010 OPN released his ‘major’ debut – Returnal at Editions Mego, popular amongst critics and listeners, and later included in Pitchfork Media's "The Top 50 Albums of 2010".
Next two years (especially 2009) were productive for Oneohtrix, with tapes and LPs released on Arbor, No Fun Productions, NNA Tapes and similar labels, including his own Software Records (Mexican Summer sub-label, operated by Lopatin).įirst three albums formed a 'trilogy', later reissued with other rare tracks as 2xCD Rifts compilation. Oneohtrix Point Never released his debut album on cassette in 2007. Main recording alias of Brooklyn-based experimental musician, composer and producer Daniel Lopatin.
